The story
The shrub that blooms in November.
A sasanqua camellia with semi-double rose-pink flowers that open in fall and keep coming into winter. Glossy dark leaves all year and an upright habit narrow enough for a side yard.
Light
Morning sun and afternoon shade. Sasanquas take more sun than japonicas once established.
Water
Water weekly the first year, and in dry spells while buds form in late summer and fall.
Planting
Plant in fall or spring in acidic, well-drained soil, with the top of the root ball slightly above grade. Don't bury the trunk.
Fresh flowers in the garden when the rest of it has packed up for the year.
