The story

Gardenia, a little tougher.

Creamy white double flowers with the heavy gardenia scent, late spring into early summer, over glossy evergreen leaves. Its buds hold up to late cold snaps that wipe out other gardenias, which is the point of the name.

Full sun in cooler areas; afternoon shade in hot ones.

Keep evenly moist. Dry roots drop buds.

Planting

Plant in spring in acidic, rich, well-drained soil. Mulch to keep roots cool.
