The story

A narrow, fast privacy screen.

A tight, upright arborvitae with soft green sprays that grows 15 to 20 feet tall and only four or five wide. Planted in a row, it closes into a green wall in a few seasons. It stays green through cold winters.

Light

Full sun to light shade. Heavy shade makes it thin.

Water

Deeply once or twice a week the first two summers. It dislikes drought.

Planting

Spring or fall, root flare level with the soil. Mulch, but keep it off the trunk.

Privacy for a narrow lot without giving up the yard.
