The story

Blue groundcover with some backbone.

A low, spreading juniper with fine, blue-green needles that layer into a mat about two feet tall and five wide. It's an improved form of the old Tam juniper, with better color and more resistance to blight. Good on slopes, where it holds soil and asks nothing.

Light

Full sun. Shade makes it sparse.

Water

Weekly the first summer. After that, only in long droughts.

Planting

Spring or fall in lean, well-drained soil. On slopes, mulch to hold soil until it knits together.

Covers a sunny bank or bed edge in blue and never needs mowing.
