The story
A shell pattern, slowly
Glossy, elliptical leaves patterned and textured like a turtle's shell. A rare, slow understory plant that does best in warm, humid air, which makes it excellent under a glass cloche or in a terrarium. Slow is part of the deal.
Light
Low to medium, diffused light. Direct sun scorches it.
Water
Keep the soil evenly moist, never waterlogged and never bone dry. Use room-temperature water.
Pot and soil
A moisture-holding, airy mix with peat or coir and perlite. A terrarium, cloche or humidifier makes life easier.
It's a rare little plant for someone who already owns a cloche.
