Jason vanWingerden spent fifteen years at his family's greenhouse business before he and his brother-in-law, Frank Paul, set out to build a better houseplant grower from scratch. Frank grew up in a Dutch growing family and ran an orchid range for a dozen years. Jason runs the business; Frank runs the greenhouse.

They broke ground in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, in late 2020, about 1,500 feet up in the Shenandoah Valley. They planted in May 2021 and shipped their first plants that July. Today it is about ten acres under glass and 150 to 200 varieties, all houseplants, nothing else.

The greenhouse is built around the plant, not the shortcut. Cuttings root in a chamber held within a degree of target. Flood floors run cool well water under the pots so roots don't cook in summer, and every drop that comes back is filtered and reused. Pests are handled almost entirely with beneficial insects, and every crop is virus-tested before it ships.

Their rule is quality first, not cheapest. That's why every houseplant we sell comes from their greenhouse.
