The story

The wall's best friend.

Glossy three-lobed leaves that overlap into a solid sheet, then go scarlet and burgundy in fall. It climbs brick, block and stone with sticky pads, no trellis needed. It is the ivy on the ivy league.

Light

Sun to full shade. Fall color is best in sun.

Water

Water weekly the first season. After that it is drought tolerant.

Planting

Spring or fall, 12–18 in. from the wall. Lean the stems toward it; they'll grab on once new growth starts.
