The story

Folds its leaves at dusk

Smooth, oval leaves in shades of green with darker blotches along the midrib and brushstrokes of cream and lime. The leaves fold up at night, and it grows in a loose, spilling habit. Charming, slightly theatrical.

Light

Medium, indirect light. Direct sun bleaches the pattern.

Water

Keep the soil lightly moist, never soggy, using filtered, distilled or rain water. Curling leaves mean it's thirsty.

Pot and soil

A peat- or coir-based mix with perlite. Raise humidity with grouping or a humidifier.

A pet-safe plant that moves, which is more than most plants offer.
