The story

Lavender-pink when the garden quits.

Semi-double lavender-pink flowers with gold centers, from fall into winter, on a compact evergreen four to five feet tall. Sasanquas take more sun than japonica camellias and make a good informal hedge.

Light

Morning sun and afternoon shade, or bright filtered light.

Water

Evenly moist the first year. Established plants handle short dry spells.

Planting

Fall or spring, slightly high, in acidic soil with organic matter. Mulch, but not against the stems.

Fresh flowers in the dead months, on a shrub that looks good the rest of the year.
