Small red berries carry a protein that makes sour foods taste sweet for about an hour. Lemons taste like candy, vinegar like juice. The shrub itself is a slow, tidy evergreen that fruits in a pot.

Light

Bright light; part sun outdoors. Shelter from harsh afternoon sun.

Water

Keep evenly moist with rain or filtered water. Tap water with lime raises the pH.

Planting

An acidic peat-based mix, pH 4.5–5.8. Repot rarely; it grows slowly.
