The story

The standard, for good reason.

'Wonderful' is the benchmark pomegranate, the one behind most of the fruit and juice you buy. Big, glossy red fruit holds deep crimson arils with a rich sweet-tart flavor. Orange-red trumpet flowers come first, from spring into summer, on a rounded, multi-stem plant.

Light

Full sun.

Water

Weekly the first year. After that, deep water every couple of weeks in summer, and evenly as fruit sizes up.

Planting

Any well-drained soil, lean or alkaline included. In zone 7, plant against a south wall.

Ornamental shrub, fruit tree and hedge in one heat-loving plant.
