An early-season highbush blueberry with big, firm, mild berries that ripen in a short window in early summer. It blooms late enough to dodge most spring frosts, then puts on red fall color.

Full sun for the biggest crop.

Water

Keep evenly moist; blueberries have shallow roots. An inch a week, more while fruit swells.

Planting

Plant in spring or fall in acidic, well-drained soil amended with peat or pine bark. Test the pH first. Mulch with pine needles or bark.

A fruit bush that's also a good-looking shrub, and the berries come early.
