The story

A red planet for the patio.

Broad, fleshy leaves blush deep wine red in full sun and form a low rosette nearly two feet across. It has the shape of an agave and the speed of a mangave, which means it looks finished in a season.

Light

Full sun. Less light means more green and a looser rosette.

Water

Soak the pot, then let the mix dry out completely before watering again. Indoors in winter, about once a month is enough.

Planting

Pot in cactus mix with extra grit or pumice, in a container with a drainage hole. Plant in the ground only within its zones, in soil that drains fast.

Red foliage that holds all season in a pot that needs watering about once a week in summer.
