The story

The tidy mountain mint.

Fine, narrow leaves on stiff stems and flat-topped clusters of small white flowers from midsummer on. Native from the Northeast through the Midwest, it's the most upright and compact of the mountain mints. Pollinators line up for it all the same.

Light

Full sun. In shade it gets floppy.

Water

Average to moist soil. Water in dry spells the first year; once settled it handles short droughts.

Planting

Plant in spring or fall with the crown level with the soil. Average garden soil is fine.

All the pollinator value of the mountain mints in a plant that fits a regular border.
