The story

Azaleas, twice.

Deep ruby-red flowers in spring, then more on new growth through summer and into fall. A rounded evergreen shrub, 3–4 ft, that keeps its glossy leaves in winter.

Light

Part sun; morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal. More sun means more rebloom if water keeps up.

Water

Keep evenly moist. Shallow roots dry out fast in summer.

Planting

Plant in spring or fall in acidic, humus-rich soil, with the top of the root ball slightly above grade. Mulch with pine bark.
