The story
Thick leaves, wavy edges.
Heart-shaped green leaves with a heavy, puckered texture and rippled edges, on a clump that spreads wide and low. Lavender flowers rise above it in summer.
Light
Part to full shade. Morning sun is fine; hot afternoon sun scorches the leaves.
Water
Keep evenly moist, especially the first year. An inch a week in summer.
Planting
Plant in spring or early fall in rich, loose soil with the crown at soil level.
A wide, textured hosta that holds up better than thin-leaved types.
