The story

A fig for the balcony.

A true dwarf fig that tops out around 2–3 ft and still bears sweet, jammy fruit. It's self-fertile, so one plant is all you need, and small enough to carry into a garage for winter.

Light

Full sun, six hours or more.

Water

Water when the top inch is dry. Pots dry out fast in summer; check daily in heat.

Planting

Use a quality potting mix in a pot with drainage. In zones 7–10 it can go in the ground.

Fresh figs from a plant that fits on a step.
