The story
Gold flowers, dark stems.
A selection of a native prairie plant, bred for dark burgundy stems and leaves flushed with red. Golden daisies with an orange-brown center sit on top from midsummer into fall. Butterflies work it all day, and the finches come for the seed.
Light
Full sun. Anything less and it stretches and flops.
Water
Water the first summer. After that it rides out dry spells; water only in long droughts.
Planting
Spring or early fall, crown at soil level. Average soil is plenty.
Height and late color for the back of a sunny border, with almost no work.
