The story

Mophead, with swirling florets.

A compact, repeat-flowering bigleaf hydrangea whose semi-double florets curl like pinwheels. It flowers on old and new wood, so a hard winter or a bad pruning doesn't cancel summer. Blooms run blue in acidic soil and pink in alkaline.

Light

Morning sun, afternoon shade. It takes more sun in the North.

Water

Keep evenly moist, about an inch a week, more in heat or in pots.

Planting

Rich, well-drained soil with compost. Plant at pot depth and mulch.

Hydrangea flowers that don't depend on luck with winter.
