The story

Early plumes, long show.

Narrow, arching green blades topped with silvery-white plumes in late summer, a few weeks ahead of most maiden grasses. In fall the leaves turn orange and red, and the plumes stand well into winter.

Light

Full sun. In part shade it blooms less and the clump flops open.

Water

Water weekly the first summer. After that it rides out dry spells.

Planting

Plant in spring or early fall with the crown level with the soil.

Finer texture and earlier plumes than the old-school maiden grasses, plus real fall color.
