The story

Garden phlox, short version.

Dense heads of deep pink flowers on a compact plant about a foot and a half tall and wide. Most garden phlox gets tall and leggy; this selection of a native stays low enough for the front of a bed or a big pot.

Light

Full sun. A little afternoon shade is fine where summers are hot.

Water

Keep the soil evenly moist with a deep weekly soak. Drought-stressed phlox gets mildew.

Planting

Plant in spring or early fall in rich, well-drained soil with some compost worked in.

Classic summer phlox color, sized for small gardens and containers.
