The story
A fern with real height.
Tall, upright, glossy green fronds, often reaching 4 ft, in a vase shape that reads as structure in a shade bed. Mostly evergreen in milder zones.
Light
Part to full shade. Morning sun is fine if the soil stays moist.
Water
Keep it evenly moist the first year; established clumps handle short dry spells.
Planting
Plant in spring or early fall with the crown at soil level.
A tall, deer-resistant fern that brings height to shade beds.
