The story
Wine-dark leaves for shade.
Ruffled grape-purple leaves washed with a silvery sheen form a tidy mound, with sprays of small white flowers in late spring. The color holds from spring through fall.
Light
Part shade. Morning sun is fine; afternoon sun fades and scorches purple leaves.
Water
Water evenly, especially the first year. Good drainage is essential.
Planting
Plant in spring or early fall with the crown at soil level, not buried.
