The story

Tiny oranges, nearly all year.

A cross of kumquat and mandarin that sets inch-wide orange fruit almost constantly. They are sour, closer to lime than orange, with a sweet, edible peel. In the Philippines it's calamansi, squeezed over everything.

Full sun outdoors; the sunniest window inside.

Water

Water when the top inch is dry. Don't let pots sit in water.

Planting

Citrus potting mix or a sandy, well-drained bed. Keep the graft above the soil.

Fruit on the tree most of the year, for drinks, marmalade and fish.
