The story

Peels with a thumbnail.

Small, deep-orange mandarins with a loose, thin peel and sweet, low-acid segments. Grown away from other citrus, the fruit is reliably seedless. It ripens in late fall and winter, when you want it.

Light

Full sun; the sunniest window in winter.

Water

Water when the top inch is dry. Good drainage matters more than frequency.

Planting

Spring. Citrus mix or sandy, well-drained soil, graft above the soil.

The easiest citrus to eat, picked ripe instead of weeks old.
