Restocks and new drops, in the Shop app.
The story
The orchid behind the flavor.
Vanilla planifolia is a climbing orchid with thick, fleshy leaves along a vine that can run 10 ft or more indoors. Mature plants make pale greenish-yellow flowers that last one day and need hand pollination to set beans. Expect a few years of growth first.
Light
Bright, indirect light: an east window, or a few feet back from a south one. Direct midday sun burns the leaves.
Water
Keep the mix lightly moist, never soggy. It wants 60% humidity or more; mist or run a humidifier.
Pot and soil
Loose orchid mix with bark and perlite. Tie the vine to the support until its aerial roots grab on.
A conversation plant with a long-term payoff.
