The story
Late pink for damp shade.
Hooded pink flowers, shaped like a turtle's head, cluster at the stem tips from late summer into fall. New spring foliage comes in bronze, then turns deep glossy green.
Light
Part shade is ideal; it takes full sun if the soil stays wet.
Water
Keep it consistently moist. It thrives at pond edges and low spots.
Planting
Plant in spring or fall at soil level in soil rich with organic matter.
A native that blooms in fall, in damp shade, when almost nothing else does.
