The story
The dark rubber plant.
Thick, glossy leaves so deep a burgundy they read as black, with red midribs. New leaves unfurl from red sheaths. It's upright, slow to sulk and handles less light than most big houseplants.
Light
Bright, indirect light is best; tolerates medium light with slower growth.
Water
Water when the top inch is dry. Less in winter.
Pot and soil
Well-draining potting mix. Repot in spring when rootbound.
