The story

The tulip that comes back.

Darwin Hybrids are the tulips most likely to return for a few springs. This one has large dark ruby cups on thick 22-inch stems that hold up in wind and rain.

Full sun for best return. Part shade works for one good year.

Water

Water once after planting. Spring rain usually covers the rest. Keep summer beds on the dry side.

Planting

Plant October to November, after the soil cools, 6–8 in. deep. Good drainage matters more than anything else.
