Light

Full sun is best. Part sun works but expect fewer, leaner stems.

Water

Water weekly the first summer. Established plants are drought tolerant.

Planting and soil

Plant in spring or early fall, crown at soil level, in soil that drains. Wet winter soil rots coneflowers.

Feeding

None. A spring dose of compost is plenty.

Pruning

Deadhead in summer for more flowers; stop in late summer and leave seed heads for birds. Cut back in spring.

Through the year

Foliage in spring, flowers June into September, seed heads through winter.

If something's off

Colors vary by plant; that's the point. Aster yellows can deform flowers; pull affected plants. Japanese beetles visit.

Plays well with

Plant it with friends.

Why we stock it: A softer, more natural-looking yellow coneflower with real variation.

That's everything we know about growing it. Thanks for reading.
