The story

Gets brighter as summer goes.

Thick, heart-shaped, slightly puckered leaves open chartreuse and turn soft yellow, then gold, as summer goes on. White flowers rise above the mound in July and August. It is one of the gold hostas that can handle a bit of sun.

Light

Part shade, with a few hours of morning sun for the best gold. Full shade keeps it chartreuse.

Water

Moist soil, about an inch a week. Don't let it dry out, especially with more sun.

Planting

Spring or now in fall, in soil worked with compost, crown at soil level.

A pool of gold in a shady bed that looks better every month of summer.
