Bushy weeping fig with glossy green leaves edged in cream

Light

Bright, indirect light, close to a window. Variegated figs fade toward plain green in dim rooms.

Water

Water when the top inch is dry and let it drain. Don't let it sit wet or dry out completely.

Pot and soil

Well-draining potting mix with a little bark or perlite. Repot in spring when roots fill the pot.

Feeding

Liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer.

Grooming

Trim in spring to shape it. Prune out any branch that reverts to all-green so it doesn't take over.

Through the year

Spring and summer: feed, turn it every few weeks and repot if roots crowd the pot. Fall and winter: water less, stop feeding, and keep it off cold glass and away from heat vents.

If something's off

Sudden leaf drop usually means a draft, a cold window or a move; give it a couple of weeks to settle. Leaves and sap are toxic to pets.

Plays well with

Plant it with friends.

Why we stock it: It brings a lighter, brighter tree shape to a room that has too much dark furniture.
