Light

Bright, indirect light. Variegated monsteras need more light than green ones because the pale sections don't feed the plant.

Water

Water when the top two inches are dry and let it drain. It grows slowly, so it drinks less than you'd think.

Pot and soil

A chunky aroid mix of potting soil, bark and perlite, with a moss or coir pole.

Pot it inRosy Aroid Soil · 4 qtChunky and airy, the way climbing aroids like it. 4 qt repots 2–3 plants. Peat-free, by Rosy Soil

Feeding

Liquid fertilizer monthly in spring and summer.

Grooming

Remove damaged leaves at the base. Attach aerial roots to the pole rather than cutting them.

Through the year

Spring and summer: feed, train new growth up the pole and repot if needed. Fall and winter: water less, stop feeding and keep it warm.

If something's off

Brown spots on the cream sections usually mean dry air or harsh sun. Yellow leaves mean too much water. Not for nibbling pets.

Plays well with

Plant it with friends.

Why we stock it: It's the monstera that reads soft and pale instead of loud.
