The story

A small hosta with curly ideas.

Thin, wavy leaves twist out of a low clump, more party streamer than hosta. It stays small, which makes it good at the front of a shady bed, in a trough, or in a pot where you can see it up close.

Light

Part to full shade. Morning sun is fine; afternoon sun burns the narrow leaves.

Water

Keep evenly moist. A shallow-rooted small hosta shows drought quickly, so water deeply in dry weeks.

Planting

Plant in spring or early fall in rich, well-drained soil with the crown at soil level. Hostas like compost; give them some.

Texture for a small shady spot, at a scale most hostas skip.
