Light

Full sun for fruit and fall color.

Water

Evenly moist; mulch to protect shallow roots.

Planting and soil

Spring or fall, in acidic soil (pH 4.5–5.5) amended with peat or pine bark.

Feeding

Acid-loving plant fertilizer in early spring and early summer.

Pruning

Remove the oldest canes and weak twigs in late winter once the plant is established.

Through the year

White flowers in spring, pink berries July into August, orange-red fall leaves, red winter stems.

If something's off

Pale leaves with green veins mean the soil is not acidic enough. Birds love these; net in summer.

Pink berries, not a typo.

A blueberry whose fruit ripens bright pink, sweet and firm, from midsummer on. White bell flowers in spring and orange-red leaves in fall make it a good-looking shrub too. Red stems carry it through winter.

Why we stock it: Four seasons of looks and berries no one else on the block has.
