The story

Self-pollinating and patio-sized.

A compact, self-pollinating blueberry that sets fruit on its own, so one plant is enough. Pink spring flowers, a midsummer crop and burgundy fall leaves. Takes milder winters than most, so it works from the North into the Deep South.

Light

Full sun for the biggest crop.

Water

Keep the soil evenly moist and never let it dry out, especially in pots and while fruit is forming. Rainwater is ideal.

Planting

Needs acidic soil (pH 4.5–5.5). In pots, use an azalea or acid-plant mix in a 16–20 in. container. In the ground, work in peat or pine bark and mulch with pine needles.

Breakfast fruit in a 16-inch pot.
